Weindorfer Day
Weindorfer Day, an event commemorating the legacy of Gustav & Kate Weindorfer, is set to be held in Wilmot, North West Tasmania on Sunday, May 3, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. This day marks an important celebration of Weindorfer’s contributions to the conservation of Tasmania’s natural heritage, particularly the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.
The event will kick off at 10 a.m. with a welcoming ceremony that includes an introduction to Gustav Weindorfer’s life and his pivotal role in the preservation of Tasmania’s wilderness. Part of the 2026 Weindorfer Day is the Weindorfer Short Film Festival whether you’re an established professional or an emerging filmmaker waiting to be discovered, the Weindorfer Short Film Festival provides a platform for self-expression through a 5-minute film. Entries are accepted in the Under 19 or open category
We welcome films of any genre, as long as they adhere to the approximately 5-minute duration and creatively incorporate a connection to the Weindorfer story or legacy. Additionally, submissions can illustrate how one or two individuals can make a positive difference in the world. This is your opportunity to craft a story that inspires, entertains, and captivates audiences – a reminder that even the smallest film can leave a significant impact!
Finalists will receive recognition, mentorship, and the chance to have their film featured at the Weindorfer Memorial Day in Sheffield, Tasmania and at Weindorfer day Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Wilmot, North West Tasmania.
